lifetimemoments friday 12-27
And this week featured the beautiful wedding papers from Cosmo Cricket. And the colors were perfect for these pictures from the weddings of my two cousins (siblings) within a month of each other back in 2007.
With layouts like these, I try to incorporate memorabilia from the wedding onto the layout - I plan ahead and almost always grab 1 extra of things to cut up for my books (and 1 to keep intact for memory sake)
This first one, that branch thingie is a cutout from the cover from their wedding program
The wedding symbol on this one (and their blurred names) are cutouts from the wedding favor box.

This week we're all about joy, celebrating the release of our new stamp Feel the Joy from Lindsay Spencer. What are 5 things that bring you joy??
For me, its easy...
1) my DH and my kids
2) making something
3) the beach
4) a good book
5) a hot bath
On to the candy. Enter your comment here and when I get home from work tonight, I'll randomly pick a winner for the blog candy for this week - the Time for Travel set, a super super versatile set that is perfect for both cards and for layouts....
This layout documents the chicada serenade that would arrive every day at dusk as we walked back to our hotel in Tokyo
I also made a card very loosely inspired by the sketch this week at Splitcoast, SC217
I also got a chance to play with the fabby new February Kit of the Month Endings and Beginnings. I love making little scenes with my stamps and this set is perfect....
colors used: Limepool, Copenhagen Blue, Yellow Ochre, Mineral Orange, Sienna Brown. Ink for fawn stamp is Adirondack expresso.
Be sure to leave a comment for a chance to win the travel set!! Happy Thursday! Happy Hip Hop!!

just cards
It was a busy week this week, and I've had little time to create. Besides my unity assignments, I only had time to do two cards...
this first one's a cheater, b/c its not all me. My DD (6) picked up a background stamp and started randomly coloring over it with a few diff. colors in my Marvy markers. She stamped it, then stippled with some inks. The thing is - i didn't teach her any of that. She watches lots of crafttvweekly and with me in the hero arts video tutorials, and must have picked up so much more than i thought. I didn't want her pretty work to go to waste, so I made up a card with it, and another TILDA stamp.
this second one uses pretty new daisy bucket loves me loves me not line including the heart stamp. (the sentiment is Heidi Swapp).
I hope you're having a wonderful weekend!!

a baby gift
I went to a baby shower for my cousin on saturday. Being still in my handmade mode b/c of circumstances, I made a pair of baby swaddlers. I always struggled with my babies always kicking off the swaddle, but they were always so comforted by it. With a screaming baby, I never mastered the art of folding a huge receiving blanket just so - and quickly enough to calm the baby.
I wanted something easy to wrap, quick to use, and something non-kickable. A search on the net yielded this cool "pocket" swaddler - the baby goes in the pocket, and then it (a large oval) wraps with no folding, and closes quickly with adjustable velcro. Double layered flannel to ensure just enough warmth during the warming spring (when baby will be born). I made a pair - one and a spare.... Oh how I wish I had something like this back in the day....
