hot hot hot!!!

I confess that for a while, I shrank away from buying unmounted stamps that were not precut - the process of cutting with my KAI scissors was so laborious. I also love it when the rubber around the image approximates the shape - when I am stamping, even though its not clear, i still get a good "gist" of where it is going. (All Unity Stamp Co stamps come precut and premounted this way), and the thought of cutting an open mounting sheet in all its sticky glory with my scissors - well, yucko. So, I went the Alene EZ Tack It Over and Over glue method for a long time, but that stopped the first time the glue pulled off in a single shot when I tried to remove it from my clear block. it failed to stick to the rubber - though the block was nice and gunky.

I fell in love with the Chichibouillie stamps at Stamping bella. but they were - precut unmounted rubber. And here came the hot knife to the rescue. I had read about this method, but never tried it - but those stamps were calling my name... OMG. Its simply a matter of tracing and its like butter. WOWZA!!! (and I've switched to the EZ Mount thin... it is just enough cushion but not so much that the little images start to rock)

Friday (fka thursday) reveal

Hee hee. I've moved the "thursday reveals" to friday just to ensure I don't scoop out the Lifetime moments newsletter!! :) this week's challenge - finish your layout in 30 minutes or less. Here are mine... TFL! wendy

and YES, I did do them in 30 minutes or less. I have an extremely short attention span. I also scrap fast by necessity more than anything else. It is so necessary to maintain my sanity but often my time is limited and so over the years, I've learned my own way for speed. Few layouts take me more than 30 minutes.

hip hop thursday!!!

its hip hop thursday and if you are here, you have probably followed our fun blog hop with lots of Unity Stamp Company eye candy and landed on me! WELCOME!!

So, I guess first up is my candy for the week!!!

1) Bliss

This was a wedding card for my cuz, who got married on auspicious 8-8-08!! This uses the Bliss and a Birdie Kit and the Beautiful Life kit from Unity Stamp Company. Also uses: paper by basic grey (the new Urban Prarie), and Prima's whisper flowers

2) Lil Squirt

I am fundamentally a lazy crafter. I often will make something just b/c that is what was on my desk at the moment. This tag I cannot take credit for - my 6 year old did it (isn't she fabbo??? Absolutely no direction or help from me)! She just left it for me as a nice wake up present. I had to put it on a card..... and since I had the cardstock cut on my desk, and some of the PP scraps, heh - that's what I used.

This also uses the Bliss and a Birdie Kit and the Beautiful Life kit and the Mix Up of Cuteness kit from Unity Stamp Company. This is the COREDINATIONS cardstock (check out the light blue core!), cuttlebug embossing folder and a scrap of old school 7 gypsies paper...

AND NOW for your hop!! Head on over to Linsey's blog for some more Unity goodness!! Thanks for visiting! I'm off to do some SCS challenges... Come play with us and link up your creation to the Unity forum!!!

totally fabulous

Isn't this the cutest stamp?????

for the longest time, my stamping was supportive of my scrapping and altered arts - and so, my stamped images were geared towards that - bolder lines, journaling, larger images, collaged images.

Thanks to the influence of my Unity girls, I have recently started expanding a bit into numerous coloring technique and I'm so loving the open imaged stamps, chic styles, cute styles... Waiting on my first order from stamping bella - bought some cute chichibouile stamps.

I'm gearing up for craft fair season for the holidays and have been working on populating the etsy store...

ETA : This stamp is from the $1 bin at Michaels. :)

because I know, my crafty buddies, that you'll understand why from the picture alone..... I've always had some frustration b/c I don't always love the texture of the original, b/c it often gobbs up on me - sometimes, I also needed other colors. Talk about solving both issues in one sweep, yes? Crystle is genius.

Tagged, and an award

Thank you so much to Lisa for nominating my blog for this award!! I am so honored, especially since Lisa is one of my idols!!! Lisa is mega talented (absolute GENIUS with unique paper projects), but even more importantly, the nicest lady ever. So giving and loving, i am always inspired by her ability to be the rock of her family, and still find time to be true to her inner girl, and also, her inner crafty-diva.

Now, its time to pass it along....

Here are the rules for receiving this award:
1) Put the logo on your blog
2) Add a link to the person who awarded you
3) Nominate at least 7 other blogs
4) Add links to those blogs on yours
5) Leave a message for your nominees on their blogs
So here are my nominations (in no particular order)....(and because I do not know if this is limited to scrappy blogs, I've broadened it) because these ladies inspire me almost daily with their creativity and goodness.

1) Angela Magnuson - Angela owns Unity Stamp Company. She set out to create this cutting edge innovative company, and in the process, built one of the most awesome DT's EVER. Angela is so positive and supportive, always there with an inspirational word of encouragement. She inspires me so - stunningly beautiful, so committed to her family, and with one of the strongest business heads I've met.

2) Christi Snow - I had the honor of meeting Christi many years ago as a member of a online scrappy store that has since closed. Christi is so positive and talented, and always just so nice.

3) Araxi - the single most talented lady ever - amazing photographer - amazing scrapper (though she doesn't scrap anymore), and such a wonderful friend... A lady who approaches life and its challenges with such grace and dignity and who is always there with a smile, totally supportive.

4) Sonya - Sonya is the sweetest and probably the most innovative scrapper I know. She has this amazing ability to mix product and items onto a page into something absolutely cohesive and energetic. She is also so wonderful as a person, with a strength that inspires me always.

5) Besh - I had the honor of serving with Besh on the Lifetime Moments team until she left the team. Besh is so unique and my crafty inspiration. Her art is edgy, funky and absolutely fun. Besh is another whose strength and positivity inspire me always.

6) Ching - I met Ching at my very first crop. Ching introduced me to the scrappy world as I know it today, which was then an entirely new way of life. She opened my eyes, opened my creativity - i was so uptight back then - I wouldn't even stick a sticker down without total anxiety about "my lack of creativity" - Ching patiently held my hand, encouraged me, and led me into this new world.... She's so creative, very giving, and all around just a joy. I am forever grateful....

7) Missy - I met missy a little after I met Ching - though Missy was much farther along the creative road than i was, she was, like me, a career girl discovering a whole new side. She obsessed with me, and, not only did she never chide me from wanting to try or buy something, or make me feel bad, she was often right behind me with her basket of stuff in one hand, wallet in the other, and then we'd both settle down to the business of trying it all out... We went to our first CKU together, we entered the publishing world together, heh, even bought our houses together. My long lost crafty twin.
