Hip Hop December 15, 2011

Happy Hip Hop everyone!  We're half way through December, and the holidays are just a week away!  How are you doing with your preparations?  I'm about 1/2 way done.  LOVE me some etsy.... :)

Today I'm having fun playing with the new itty bittys - You're the Ticket. I've had a hard few days so far at work, and wanted something bright and cheerful to cheer me up.   (Don't ever let anyone convince you the law is an easy way to make a living.  Its many good things - but easy it's not.)  Some pretty papers, some gorgeous new stamps, and diving into my stash of primas.  I'm good. :)

Hip Hop December 1, 2011

Oh my word! I can't believe it's December already!  The year has flown by in a flash and we're right in the middle of my favorite time of year.  How far along are you in your holiday shopping?  I haven't started yet!  And its right about now when I look at that big list of things I was going to make for gifts, and quickly start substituting purchased items.  HAH.  That's ok.  My peeps know me.

Today, I felt like coloring.  And just because I love this stamp "Good Morning" so much, I had to use it again.

This is copic coloring, with the image stamped in Memento Desert Sand.  Many of the lines disappeared when I colored them, which forced me to get creative with shadows.

Hip Hop November 17, 2011

Happy Hip Hop everyone!  I'm on my way to Atlanta for a business trip today.  I wanted to make something warm and fuzzy before I went.  I do like business trips but I'm always a bit torn leaving home. The Brandy & Emma "Good Morning" set was perfect to calm me and bring me some peace.  Such a loving image.

I'm still playing around with color pencil techniques.  These are mostly prisma color.

Hip Hop November 3, 2011

Happy Hip Hop everyone!   NOVEMBER already!  Fall is in the air and we're starting my favorite time of year.  I love the warmth of Thanksgivng that flows into the excitement of Christmas!!

Today, I'm playing with a new itty bitty stamp Little Girl Believes.
I love her sweet face.

Color wise, I've been experimenting with color pencil techniques.  I find I strongly prefer a soft pencil.  These are Prismacolor with a few Caran D'ache here and there.  PP is basic grey.  Blue diecut is from Pink Paislee.  Swirly dies are from that Ornate Artisan Spellbinders compatibles set that I've been addicted to the past few hops. :)

Unity Stamp Company & Spellbinders 2-Day Blog Hop

Welcome to our TWO-day event!

You should be joining me from Christine Emberson’s blog; if not then head to the beginning on the Unity Stamp Co. blog.

With all the blog-swaps that are happening out there lately, I can't think of one more exciting than when the amazing women of SPELLBINDERS get together with the rockstars of UNITY STAMP COMPANY!

We can't wait to show you a special line of coordinating products featuring SPELLBINDERS dies and SAMANTHA WALKER for Unity Stamp Co. rubber stamps!
Not only are we thrilled to be collaborating on such a special 2-day event, but ONE of you will win ALL of the coordinating stamps and dies from the Samantha Walker collection! We will also have 1 winner each day from the comments that will receive 1 Samantha Walker stamp set and coordinating dies.

So be sure to enjoy our hop both days, leave comments on all of the blogs each day and check back to see if you won!

Winners will be posted on Wednesday, October 19th on the Unity Blog and Spellbinders Blog.

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the Ornate Artisan Stackers stamps and dies. The images are just stunning, and the sentiments are pretty universally complete - very versatile and covering a large number of occasions. But the beautiful ornate "iron work" like images would be a nightmare to fussy cut.
Enter the gorgeous Spellbinders dies - which makes it very easy to create a super detailed precision cut card.
And I love love love how it turned out (and how easy it was to do!!)

Now please head over to Gloria Stengel's blog.

In case you get lost along the way, please visit the Unity Stamp Company blog for a list of all the blogs in today’s blog hop!

Hip Hop October 6, 2011

Happy Hip Hop everyone!

Today, I'm playing with some stamps from one of my new favorites - the unity cobranded authentique stamps Born An Original:

I always love the classic english country-ness of the blue on white.

Oh and we have prizes, too, so BE SURE to leave a comment on ALL of the blogs on today’s Blog Hop!

The winners will be announced on Thursday, September 15th on the Unity Stamp Company blog and the Scor-Pal blog!

While I love the ease of the Scor-Pal for making beautiful folds without alot of angst, what I love MOST about the Scor-Pal is the way it allows me to "draw" embossed lines - perfectly measured, and very easily. Hip Hop September 8, 2011

Happy Hip Hop everyone!  I know we're in September, but I really love these images from the August kit of the month, What I Know.  And so I felt compelled to make just one more card with it.  A pretty clean and simple card, inspired by a home decor ad I saw.  The gray and yellow is a current fave combination of mine now a days.

Hip Hop August 25, 2011

Happy VINTAGE Hip Hop Thursday everyone!  Today, we're in our second week of our co-blog hop with Vintage Street Market and their gorgeous craft lines! They are so beautiful and evoke such a warm nostaligic feel.  Be sure to start at Unity's blog and check it all out.

I was lucky enough to get to play with the vintage tinted tape "Linen." I love the subtle striping I was able to create, along with stamps from the August kit of the month, What I Know

Hip Hop August 11, 2011

Welcome to my crafty corner everyone.  Happy Hip Hop Thursday!

The 1-2 months following CHA are normally my favorites, because they are usually the times when I get to play with all of the new CHA releases.  I love that feeling of newness and anticipation when the packages arrive.

Today, I'm playing with the adorable My Little Shoebox, Little Miss Sunshine - both the paper and the new itty bitty stamp set.  (hee hee!  Look!  its me! watering a plant!!)

This is just a plain color pencil color technique, using a very heavy hand for the opaque vibrant color.  I did the skin tones in Copics, though.  I can never get a pencil skin that I am satisfied with.

Embossing folder is Sizzix.

Now before I send you on your next blog stop, I wanted to direct you to a fabulous store, I {heart} papers.

She carries a wonderful mix of paper crafting and a very nice selection of unity - a large contingent of which is MORE THAN 1/2 off!!  What a great deal!

Hip Hop July 28, 2011

Here we go!!  Cha is finally done and I've got a wish list a mile long.  I can't wait to play with all the new Unity sets coming out!!

Today, I needed a birthday card, so I broke out June's kit of the month, all smiles.

Its a simple card where I focused on texture.  Lately I've really been drawn to white. I guess when it is so hot, the white makes me feel crisp and cool.   I've also got a semi new rule for myself - to use my scraps when I make most of my cards.  I always have left overs after working on layouts  More so, actually, as I gravitate more and more towards cardstock bases with printed accents (vs. full multi sheeted layered printed paper layouts...)  My house also is slowly trending towards white backgrounds with all the print and color in textured accents.  Strange how things change over time.

I colored directly onto the rubber with my Marvy pens, then tapped with a slightly darker color randomly in spots to give it some interest.  After I huffed and stamped, I accented it with penwork and stickles.

Twine is from Martha Stewart, embossing folder is cuttlebug, pearl from Prima, and dies from PTI
